Introduction

Each ideogram, which represents "meaning" in the form of a shape (picture), contains a message or the power of words. The ancient Chinese scripts (Xia, Shang, and Zhou oracle bone and bronze scripts), which are the source of Chinese characters, are like paintings, even though they are also written characters. It is both amazing and fascinating to see the imagination of the people of those times, who created letters out of things that had no form.
Ancient characters are just characters, so they cannot be designed in any arbitrary way; they must remain in a readable form. It is also very fascinating to express oneself within the constraints of a single "character."
Although the oracle bone scripts and bronze scripts are ancient artifacts, they are also "new," having only been discovered in recent years. They are new despite their history—a universe within constraints...
I will express the "imagination and creation" of "vocabulary" through ink strokes.

Born in Kobe / Lives in Tokyo / Works for Shiseido Co.
Using ancient characters as a motif, I create works that express my mental image in the space created by the interweaving of ink lines and blank spaces.
Since 2014, I had been a member of "Kikkoukai," a group led by Kato Koho, a leading expert in the art of calligraphy using ancient scripts (Oracle bone script and bronzeware script) *(*The group was dissolved when the leader passed away.)
